Smoke from a German Altar
((1970-1977)
(Parts I and II))
Across the Rhineland (Part I)
Across
the Rhineland, I roamed so long ago
When
there was less hostility, to and fro—
I
blazed a trail to immortality!
And
learned to know the folly of the fool;
I
left some scars upon the yielding times—
And
found peace where courage won.

German: City’s, Bridges and Streets (Part II)
I
strolled along the stone brick bridges
Twilight
after twilight untouched by the passing breeze;
The
city’s tranquil essence and gloomy corridors—
I
walked along the shadowed lamp lit streets!
And
thought of things in solitude, no city sound
Disturbed
my drifting day-to-night dreaming mind.
I
had an endless rope of hopes, and smiles and
—forgotten
ills!
