A War Poem

Just a Memory
(A War Poem)

To die from a missile, or shell
To pass out in thin air—
Like a fart, and that’s that!
How can anyone not in War
Understand? They can’t,
Obviously—
They’ve never even seen an
Eight-in projectile
(of two-hundred pounds)
After you’re hit, there’s nothing
To pick up, just a memory.
