Biography
Early Years
![]() |
Dennis L. Siluk in Vietnam, 1970 |
Dennis Lee Siluk, born on October 7, 1947, in Saint Paul,
Minnesota, United States of America. His father was of Irish origins and his
mother of Russian and Polish stock. Dennis grew up under the protection of his
mother ((Elsie T. Siluk)(1920-2003)) and his grandfather ((Anton
Siluk)(1891-1974)), of Russian birth who came to America in 1916, participated
in the First World War (1918), in which he had to return to Europe for a year,
then married Ella of Polish stock and settled in St. Paul. Dennis has one
brother, Mike Siluk (October 8, 1945).
Since Dennis was a child he enjoyed poetry, and at the age
of twelve wrote his first poem ‘Who,’ thereafter, a number of his poetry was
published in his high school newspaper, while in journalism class, at
Washington High School, in St. Paul, Minnesota (‘Beyond Time,’ and ‘Typing,’).
Some of these early poems can be found in his first book, “The Other Door”
(1981, now a classic and much sought after book). In 1965, at the age of
16-years old, he had won second place in the city of St. Paul, art competition
(sponsored by the: Jaycees), at Washington High School. During this period
between the ages of twelve and fourteen years old, he worked as a shoeshine
boy, until he got his first real job at the World Theater, as an usher, and
candy counter distributor.
At the age of twenty Dennis had already become a somewhat,
seasoned traveler; he had traveled with an assortment of friends across the
country, staying in Omaha, Nebraska, working across the river. Also he had
traveled to Seattle Washington, living there in the Ballard District, working
for a window frame company. Things did not work out for him, with his friends
so he returned after a short visit, perhaps a month or so.
Dennis’ next trip was his first long trip in that he’d stay
for a year; in 1968 he went to San Francisco where he learned Karate (Go Jo
Rue) from the renowned Gosei Yamaguchi who became his protector also, during
his stay in San Francisco and during this year he met on a personal level,
Gogan, Gosei’s father known as, “The Cat,” here he studied and taught children
the art of Karate, and was in one tournament.
At the age of twenty-two Dennis enter into the United States
Army (participating in the Vietnam War in 1971, and receiving three medals of
Accommodation, for his outstanding service, during these years, he became a
Staff Sergeant (eight plus, years Active, and three years Inactive Reserve)).
During his tours of duty, his permanence in the Army assisted him in the
financial burden for paying his college education, he attended the University
of Maryland (1974-76) receiving his first degree in Behavioral Science; during
this time he also attended Central Texas College (where he took only two
courses).
Thereafter, in Alabama, he continued his education at Troy
State University, receiving his second degree, in Psychology and Literature.
Thereafter, he attended the University of Minnesota (for Psychology, and
Counseling), and Liberty University (doing studies in Theology), mostly
graduate and post graduate work. Thereafter, Dennis received his License, in
the State of Minnesota in counseling area, his expertise being in developmental
psychology, and dual disorders, coupled with drugs and alcohol.
Adult Years
During the 1990s, for the most part (1988 to 2001) Dennis
worked for private institutions, clinics, and likewise with the Bureau of
Prison, while still writing. His first book, was published in 1981, his second
in 1982 (during this time his poetry was being published by a Minneapolis
Newspaper, along with some of his short stories in selected books by
independent publishers). Thus, he stopped his professional career in June of
2001 because of an impending illness, and did just writing as he could, taking
up much of his old unfinished manuscripts trying to smooth them out, along with
his poetry.
During the 1990s Dennis became an ordained minister by the
International Church of Jesus Christ, allowing him to evangelize to whoever
asked at the same time he was doing his work as a Counselor.
Dennis L. Siluk has traveled twenty-six times around the
world. He had been to over fifty countries, and to forty-six states out of
fifty of the United States. His most recent trips were in 2007, where he went
to Iguaçu Falls on both sides, in Argentina, and Brazil (and would return there
in March of 2010); he went to Cajamarca in Peru, and in 2006, and to the Panama
Canal. In 2010 he went to Israel, visiting Jerusalem, Tiberias (and the:
‘Circle of Rephaim’) and Tel Aviv. Met Amir Or, one of Israel’s most noted
poets, they had coffee and juice together at ‘Bistro’ Café in Tel Aviv.
While he was doing all these activities, he continued
writing articles on psychology, for a counseling magazine, along with his poems
and short stories for such magazines as “Swiftt” a magazine out of Australia,
and “Leaves” a magazine out of India, and “Caminos” in Peru. His poems,
articles, tales, etc., can be read on over 4000-websites, worldwide. He edited
and translated with his wife, Rosa, the poetry of Juan Parra del Riego, the
most skilled poet Peru has ever produced in the past, the first time to be put
into English, and now in the book “The Windmills.” His writings have been translated into five
languages (Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, Serbian, and of course in
English).
Dennis L. Siluk had written over seventy books. A number of
his books have been about the cultures, traditions and the ways of life in
Peru, in English and Spanish. He had received acknowledgments and awards for
his work done in Peru. He had produced over 4100-poems, 700-short stories and
tales, 1400-articles in addition to his over 70-books, and several-chapbooks
(several of these poetic children’s chapbooks were written in the 1980s between
1982 and 1984 and are rarely seen, if not almost extinct—and sold as classics
on eBay—some only one hundred copies were made.)
In 2005 Dr. Siluk was appointed The Poet Laureate of San
Jeronimo de Tunan, Huancayo, Peru, and he received diplomas of acknowledgment
for his works on the Mantaro Valley of Peru by the University Los Andes. In
2006 he received the Grand Cross of the City of San Jeronimo de Tunan, also he
had received a diploma as the Best Writer of 2006 for promoting culture, given
by Antena Regional; likewise he had received a diploma of Excellence as the
Poet and Writer of 2006, given by Corporation of Autonomous Press (in 2007); in
a like manner he had received acknowledgment for his works on the Mantaro
Valley of Peru by the National University of the Center of Peru, and by the
Professional Association of Journalists of Junin-Huancavelica of Peru. He also
received two Columnist awards, 2004 and 2005, and one of his stories was
elected story of the month for October, 2006, by ‘The English Magazine’
In 2007, Dr. Siluk was appointed The Poet Laureate of Cerro
de Pasco, Peru; and Poet Laureate of the Mantaro Valley, Peru; he was also
awarded Honorary Journalist by the Professional association of Journalists of
Peru. In addition he got his Doctor degree in Arts and Education from Belford
University of Texas, USA, due to his studies, experience, writings and published
works. In 2011 Dr. Siluk was appointed The Poet Laureate of the cities of
Huancayo, Satipo, Chilca, Nueve de Julio, and in 2012 the Poet Laureate of
Canchayllo, all of them in Peru. On
January 30, 2012 he had received his first Honorary Doctorate from the National
University of Central Peru (UNCP). On June 29, 2013 he had received his second
Honorary Doctorate from the Ibero-American Board in Honor to the Leaders of
Leaders (CIHLL).

Hail Mary Full of Grace (Poetic Prose)
Part
One: “Hail Mary, full of grace…”
Proud
of his wonderful task, Gabriel the Archangel, descends to earth, to civilized
man, looks down upon Mary, the humbler member of mankind. She has conquered the
forces of original sin, compelled upon man after the incident in the Garden of
Eden. How was this done? God had
transformed, out from this inhospitable forest, earth, into the fertile fields
of heaven at some unknown time, exterminated this obstructing seed from her, or
that was to be placed upon her, that perhaps never was; the main point being,
when she’d give birth to Christ, it wasn’t’ there, it couldn’t have been there,
it would have been an infectious birth had it been: had it been. What I am
really saying here? When Gabriel came to earth on this rare occasion, back in
about 4 B.C., in the land what is now called Israel, or the Holy Land, he said
to Mary: as we all know, as it has been documented by the apostles, and evidently
told to them by Jesus or Mary herself, “Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is
with thee…”
Now
how is this possible? There is a towering mountain-range here. He awaits her
answer as if he already knows she will be willing to give the correct answer,
and thus birth to the Christ child, to be the mother of the Messiah. To take on
this labor willingly. In any case, she says “Yes!” Before accepting this
conclusion which places the stamp of eternal superiority of the human race and
its nations and even the devil under her heel, is obviously based upon a prior
achievement! That being, she already has the grace, and most likely has already
accepted this unconditionally—therefore, somewhere in time and space, there was
a pause, must have been a pause, a ripple in time! For me there is an assertion
here, a higher feeling is evident. Something happened in that pause, what
happened is this? This unapproved assumption, indicates that other conditions
being equal, or far beyond equal, existed, which fundamentally differs, she is
already ordained, she is simply answering a question, she long ago agreed to,
and he, the archangel is reconfirming this, for the earthly record. There is no
discussion here; the subject matter is over with a clap of an eye, a ‘Yes!” is
given, without hesitation.
The
idea dwells in the mind, that should one investigate, expect to find the
highest assumption: she has already been approved, she is without Original Sin,
it has been lifted, and she is what she will come to
be later on in the far-off future, the Immaculate Conception. How could Gabriel call her “Hail Mary full of
grace,” unknowing this? Grace meaning, polished. Like a new Christian, yet
Christianity has not been born. For Jesus has not been born or crucified to
lift man’s burden of original sin by baptism, not yet anyhow! The answer to the
question is simple: at a preordained time, this was outlined to her in the
Halls of Heaven, transferred from earth, or perhaps never even having even left
Heaven, prior to her forthcoming birth. Again we might ask: how is this
possible?
We
must bear in mind, we are the product of God, God is not our product, and we do
not know, understand his elaborate ecclesiastical, or astrophysical, or Old
World, versus New World, organization, adequately to recognize the variable rapidity
of it, the full powers behind this situation, and God Himself. What does it
mean, then, if one person like Mary can reach the stage that mankind can only
reach after the birth and crucifixion of Christ, before this time has elapsed!
It means time can be bent, or stopped, which has already been proven. If one can run at the speed of light, time
stops. If time can be bent, as Quantum Physics, indicates it can be,
vicissitudes, or changes, within or of its history can be modified. Thus,
Mary’s timely assimilation into the God family, should not be so unbelievable. Consider she is the branch of this one tree
and this tree connects mankind with God, nobody can dispute her high merits,
nor how she has influenced the world over. As Christians we also become part of this tree, I call us,
little branches, but like all things, a plan has to be in place before it is
implemented, hence: the plan came from God, Christ was the plan, Mary was part
of this plan, and this plan would sprout new branches.
Eve
from the Garden of Eden, was our old world order mother—and she gave us
original sin; now Mary, she is the new world order mother, with the new rebirth
of mankind, our second mother that has not put us in jeopardy of original sin
but through Christ’s birth and crucifixion, helped deliver us back to where God
wanted us before Eve ate that piece of fruit, if that makes any sense; we have
drifted as Christians
from the old world
order, to the new world order, figuratively speaking, by way of Mary: had Mary
been infected with original sin, she would be a product of Eve, and this would
not due, therefore, she was not, how then could we call her mother, when Eve is.
…
Part
Two: “The Lord is
with Thee!”
“Hail
Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee”, was Gabriel’s statement. At this
point in this prose thesis, it is old news of course, however, the issue should
be solved on basic knowledge, not according to emotional clamor, and under
conditions, we appear to be called upon to formulate definite answers to
questions that require the most unbiased investigation, and this is what I am
trying to do, for Christians who doubt Mary’s predestined, preordained fate of
being Immaculate or Spotless upon conception of Christ, Jesus: and for today’s
young people this is a needed critical examination of the phenomena, that is
why I have brought our minds the facts relating to the origins of Mary’s “Yes!” We know that the foundations of Christianity is
based on the blood importance of Christ—who he was as a man, and who he was
while in Heaven; without any doubt Mary’s blood flows in the veins of the child
Christ, the percentage, is not in question, it may well be disregarded, much
more important is the introduction of, it not being infected with original sin;
and his bloodline, is not Mongrel, it comes from Kings. The historical evidence
is quite in accord with the results of any simple investigation. A lively
intercourse, contact, interaction existed between Mary and the God family,
which I believe brought about fundamental changes in her blood as well as in its
diffusion, or dispersal. A scientist might say this in a different way,
perhaps: this change is by gradual germination, or propagation, or incubation,
or sprouting, a process of amalgamation if this is the case it took place in
God’s throne room in a blink of an eye; in other words, an exceedingly rapid
changeover took place. This thesis is quite conducive to the change an
anthropologist would sketch for a primitive to a less primitive. We need only
transfer it to Heaven from earth, instead of from one part of old Europe to
some alien part of the Mediterranean; it works in either case, thus, it is not
so profound in the sense of it is not workable, profound yes, in that Mary was
the lucky one you might say, the chosen, and we Christians were lucky she
didn’t change her ‘Yes,’ to a ‘No!’ God forbid! And instead of the blink of an
eye, the phenomenon for the Anthropologist would be perhaps 50,000, or a
100,000 year process. In other words, bloodlines make a difference.

The Neolithic Red Bull of

Chapter One
“The Red Bull,” said Dr. Hightower, of the

his archeological site in Asia Minor, speaking to his colleges, updating him on
his discovery “was
the size of a Blue Whale, some eighty feet long. Surely this creature to its
inhabitants of that region, inspired awe; matter-of-fact, we know this for a
fact, for the beast died without any wounds.
It arrived in the Neolithic period of mankind (9,000 to 11,000 B.C.,
thereabouts). We know it devoured all the domestic plants around Catalhôyûa, in
Turkey. The beast was reddish-brown, a
rustic color, with black spots, long tail, an apparent outward snout, and a
long hanging tongue, its feet hoofed, and its horns some six feet long. It is the only one of its kind. It would
seem, the men and women of this region carried out rituals to this beast, but
feed the bull per near starved them to death, and then the beast started
feasting on them. It dominated—for the most part—the realm.”
So was this Dr. Hightower’s position on the discovery,
and how he inferred that the people of this realm, and reasoned on this life
form beast.
The inhabitants proclaimed legends to
the Red Bull, that it survived 1200-years in the region. And the analysts who
analyzed its bone and teeth, at the Research Development Department, simply
concluded, its age, and indicated because of having no wounds, could not tell
of its demise, nor how this story ended for the men and women of this race,
although all indications were they are a bold, and powerful people. But Dr. Hightower, smiled and said, “Be at the conference
meeting tomorrow, I will unfold the mystery.”
Chapter Two
Before we go onto Dr.
Hightower’s unfolding of the mystery of the death of this huge beast, let me
update the reader on the Catalhôyûa, civilization.
Their houses were built in a manner that suggest that defense was the reason
for their peculiar way. But what enemy did they have other than at times the
very bull they revered. Let me explain:
their dwelling had a sole entry through the roof, and their dwellings
were superimposed buildings on a plain of some thirty acres, or less. One
structure on top of another. Flat roofs, for his was also their walkway. Each
house having a wooden stairway. Explained, Dr. Hightower to his students,
facility, and workmen and women that were at the archeological site: “The past, the present and
the future behaves in a certain manner. And to come to my conclusion, one must
study all the factors involved. Having said this, when heat arrives it changes
the future, it is different from the past. If there is no friction—example, a
pendulum can swing forever, this friction heats, at the same time loses energy,
and slows down. Again let me say: friction produces heat. This is where the
past, present, and future comes into play, only when there is heat. A fundamental phenomenon took place back
then. But let me continue, heat passes
from
things
that are hotter to things that are colder. Hot to cold. The reasons the Red Bull died, was because of
a cold spell, the beast lost all its heat. If that makes sense. If you are asking
‘why this is so’ let me say: a quickly moving atom of the hot substance (in
this case the bull) collided with a cold spell, and lost its energy, rather
than vice versa. Basic physics, what is heat? Heat is atoms and/or molecules,
in a cluster that moves quickly. Cold to the contrary, those atoms and/or
molecules move slower. We could end this mystery right here and now this this,
but … (a pause) to repeat myself, hot moves to cold. Example, put a cold spoon
in hot soup, it becomes hot. In a like manner on a cold day we lose body heat,
and become cold. Thus the red Bull died in just this manner. First it had no
wounds, and there was a long, very long cold spell and no food available for an
extended period of time, and the inhabitants themselves, moved, migrated to a
warmer climate. Although for a while it became cannibalistic, in that ate age
human flesh, carcasses, but when the region was unpeopled for generations, it
died on its own. The inhabitants revered
the beast, like Americans do the bald eagle. Although they used spears to keep
it at a distance.”
Chapter Three
Dr. Hightower, could hear the
endeavoring people in the background talking to one another, in an
extraordinary tone of voices, asking “How on earth did just one specie come to exist?” It was very painful to listen to, for honestly
he knew or had an idea, and it wasn’t at all keen. Said Dr. Hightower, “The full legend goes
something like this: that the Red Bull, came from a miniature world or moon,
the sphere that dropped off this beast was perfectly round, in diameter, when
it approached the ground a circular trapdoor opened in the bottom, several
creatures descended forthwith and proceeded to their new environment, at which
time they were perhaps four feet in height, three died of rubbles of insect
bites, three vanished, or disappeared from human observation, and one survived.
So the legend goes.”

Pauper, the Mutt
Pauper, eating his Steak! 11-18-2014
The dog, I have nicknamed Pauper, whom is a
stray dog in the neighborhood: a half-pint size German Shepard Mutt! My wife and I, more wife than I, have grown to
care for him, perhaps even grown to love him in a mutt kind of way! My wife has
taken him on one occasion to the veterinarians because of a wounded foot,
thereafter for a shampoo, —save, he needed it long before he got it: no longer
smelling like a mutt, rather more like Lysol. And thereafter again, given the
mutt those expensive shots…hopefully, cleaning out his system of any disease,
and so forth… We tried to restore him to civilization, bring him into our home
and treating him near like an equal, but he cried and whimpered… Can you picture
a German Police Mutt, crying and whimpering? It’s hard being a Vietnam Veteran
watching that, so I set him free to go back and roam his old turf. Well, what
can one say—to each his own, even a dog has the right to choose—so I feel—his
destiny! Anyhow, the essence of this story is this: we’ve fed him per near
daily, for more than a few months now, a few times a day! Hamburger for lunch,
and a steak for dinner, water for his thirst, and some hard-bread-crackers,
mixing the dog food with hamburger sometimes… Had I not mixed it with the
hamburger, he’d not have eaten the dog food, he’s highbrow, believe it or not— yes,
even a mutt, a stiff-nicked mutt, can be costly, and this Peruvian Mutt, is
high maintenance… “I
will not eat anything else at your house, without protein in it!” his eyes have told me, time and again,
and my wife seems to identify with him; or is it with me and him? As if he is
on a kosher diet. But he does put on
quite the show, and watching him eat is a treat! He approaches so dandy like:
cool as a ripe and chilled cucumber. Wiggling that long mutt tail, not tramp
style, but kingly, as if somewhere along the line, he was descended from King
Arthur’s court (as
they say: elitist). I
call him, the roustabout, he has three neighborhoods he searches out I do
believe; and that look on his face says:
if you don’t serve me, I got plan B, and C, already in place (sounds like my son-in-law!) Anyhow, suddenly the dog sees the steak
in my hand, for him surely the choicest slab of protein in the neighborhood— in
all three neighborhoods! With a swift dart of his perturbing—dog face, and
strong four-year old saber teeth, he dives at the steak, grabs hold of the
steak, clutching it, as if it might grow legs and run away; I have to watch my
fingers and his teeth closely, lest I lose them. My reflexes are not as good as
they used to be, nor my eyesight! The
steak, now in his mouth, his head raised, ere, before he devours it: exultantly
he throws the stack every-which-way but loose—like an alligator—as if to tenderize it before the big moment! Then
snap, it is in two pieces, one hanging out of his mouth, the other on the
floor, of our den— this is not the end! He gives no more attention to my wife
and I, he is in a LSD, kind of zone … happy as three cockroaches, on top of a
hill of sugar! He chews madly, as if someone might come along and take it away;
there is a bigger dog next door, called Moro, who likes steaks also… My steaks
that I give to Pauper that is the main reason he comes into our den, to eat the
steak in secret, lest he lose it to Moro— the beast! And until the first of the
halves disappears down his long slippery throat, he is not content— Eaten with
such relish and determination, he now goes for the second portion, a little
less hurried, yet a little worried. Crack-head, the Priest’s dog across the
street might appear, he likes Pauper’s hamburger, I’ve nicknamed the Priest’s
dog Crack-Head, because he keeps falling off the Preacher’s rooftop, and he’s
bitter, and I have learned from experience, to only refer to him as Crack-head
when he’s not looking... He can read my lips, and brother when I call him that
name, he gives me the: I’ll eat you look! He too, is similar to Moro the Beast!
Does Pauper, have a concept of what he is eating (surely not what it costs)? He does! How do I know? He continues in
his way in the matter of establishing long term contact with this house,
especially marinating my wife with his droopy sad eyes, knowing I’m perhaps a
war veteran, he is cautious with his peas and cues… Once he is full, he tramps
off to Cockroach Villa, wherever that is! But since that last shampoo he got,
he has returned to smelling like the old Mutt of the neighborhood once again and
every time I feed him, I got to take a shower thereafter! I told my wife this
is getting to be too time consuming! If not costly, for a dog that won’t even
watch the perimeter of our house, or for that matter, keep us company at night!
